Which Body Type Are You?

This article may be able to answer the lingering question why some people just don’t get fat no matter what they eat and no matter how much they eat. And why some people easily get fat with the slightest indulgence in food. And why some people are naturally muscular and well built.

The answer lies in the genetic make-up of people. Some people are just leaner by nature and some are just very susceptible to gaining weight. Some are the in between whose body responds proportionately to what they do. The ectomorphs are thin by default and the endomorphs are round by nature while mesomorphs seem to be born with muscles already developed.

To explain further; there are three general category of body types. The ectomorph, mesomorph and the endomorph. Of these three, the ectomorph may be the most envied type for the wrong reason; they hardly get fat no matter what they eat and no matter how much they eat.

The ectomorph has a slender body type and is often characterized by less body mass. They are naturally thin and have a linear physique. They usually have narrow shoulders and long limbs. They are the envy of those who easily gain weight for they can eat whatever they want without gaining weight.

An ectomorph woman can even give birth to five kids without any sign of gaining weight later. This is because their metabolism works so fast to the point that they immediately burn what they eat.

There is a downside to this however. As ectomorphs are naturally thin, it will also take them tremendous effort to build body mass. They will have to work hard for every muscle that they will have to gain in as much as an endomorph has to work hard to lose extra body weight. Ectomorphs also get cold easily as they have less fat in their body.

The second type are the mesomorphs. They are neither thin nor fat. Their body is characterized by well-defined mature muscles and large bones. They are the athletic type. The men of this type are typically characterized as hard bodied while the women are usually those who have an hourglass figure. They gain muscle easily but can also gain fat easily compared to ectomorphs.

The third type are the endomorphs. Their body is usually characterized as round and soft. They usually have undeveloped muscles and their skin is typically soft and smooth. They are fat by default and they easily gain weight with the slightest indulgence in food. They also have difficulty in losing weight. In as much as an ectomorph has to work hard to gain muscle, the endomorph also has to work hard just to lose weight.

In committing to have an ideal body weight, the biggest challenge lies with the endomorphs as they also have to regulate what they eat in addition to the extra effort they have to put in any physical exercise that they will engage in.

Whereas the ectomorph just have to work harder in the gym to gain muscles but has the privilege of eating what they want. While mesomorphs do not have to work that hard to have muscles for their physique are naturally muscular. They also don’t have to watch out their diet as much as an endomorph has to.
