Losing weight will save you from a number of weight related diseases which includes heart ailment, high blood pressure and stroke to name a few.
It is a known fact that overweight people have a high level of cholesterol in their blood stream as well as triglycerides (known also as blood fat) that blocks the artery and causes heart attacks. As you know, heart disease is a leading cause of death and disability for men and women in the United States. Also, Angina, a type of heart disease, is a common ailment caused by obesity that results in chest pains.
It also decreases the oxygen pumped into the heart. Sudden deaths and strokes that strike with very little or almost no warning are also caused by severe weight problem.
Obesity also causes other types of cancer. For women, obesity usually causes cancer of the uterus, gallbladder, ovary, breast and colon. As for men, other diseases associated with obesity include the cancer of the colon, prostate and rectum.
Being overweight also leads to the diagnosis of type II diabetes. Recent studies have shown that there is a direct correlation between obesity and the diagnosis of type II diabetes.
Because when a person is obese, the complications arising from obesity interferes with the usage of the body of the insulin it produces resulting to the diagnosis of type II diabetes.
Obesity also develops sleep apnea or heavy snoring after a temporary halt in breathing during sleep. This is not healthy because sleep apnea causes sleepiness or drowsiness during the waking hours of the day.
And as obese people are top heavy, it is inevitable that they will eventually suffer the pain of osteoarthritis. The joints are subjected to severe stress due to the unusual weight it has to support which will eventually lead to osteoarthritis.
These are only few of the diseases associated with obesity. And these are totally avoidable if people with unhealthy weight make the decision to lose it safely.
It may be hard yes, but the risks that will be eliminated are worth all the sacrifices of losing weight. Losing weight can also be good to the psychological well-being of a person. Because obesity is not exactly palatable to see, many have been subjected to social alienation which affected their self-esteem.
Imagine feeling good about yourself and spared from being socially ostracized?
All these benefit comes with just reducing weight. Committing to weight loss programs without looking at the benefit can really be difficult.
But when there is something to look forward too after all the hardship and difficulties of losing weight, like living a longer quality life and fitting in to those much desired slimier clothes it will become worth the effort.
